The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) joins the nationwide celebration of Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) Golden Jubilee.
In a small but significant approach, the ICAC launched its external Independence Campaign today, to inform and create public awareness on the Commission’s mandate and the crucial role every citizen plays in the fight against corruption.
In alignment with the national theme, “Celebrate Our History and Inspire Our Future”, the ICAC campaign runs under the theme “Our Heritage, Our Integrity, Our Future”.
This initiative aims at commemorating PNG’s 50th Independence Anniversary as well as creating awareness on the importance of maintaining integrity at all levels of the government and society and the positive impact it can have on the country’s future.
Running from September 1 to 16, the campaign will feature a series of public engagements, media outreach, and educational materials designed to empower citizens and reinforce the importance of a corruption-free society.
In launching the campaign, the ICAC highlights its commitment to building a future for PNG with integrity, transparency, accountability, and good governance.
“The Acting Commissioner of the ICAC Thomas Eluh in acknowledging the campaign, said as we celebrate 50 years of Independence, we must also reflect on how far we have come as a nation. We honour the sacrifices of our founding fathers and those who laid the foundations of our country.
“As we honour the courage and sacrifices of those who led us to Independence, let us be equally bold in our stand against corruption.”
The campaign will be aired on NBC radio, FM 100 and published on the daily newspapers- The National and Post-Courier, Post-Courier Online and the ICAC social media pages.
